The Clever Clovers 4-H Carving Group is a vibrant and engaging community where young creators can explore the art of carving while prioritizing tool safety and enjoyment. Led by Talon Wood, a dedicated volunteer carver at the Albany Historic Carousel, this group offers hands-on projects that inspire creativity and foster a love for craftsmanship. Members will learn essential carving techniques, develop their skills, and work on exciting projects together—all while having fun in a supportive environment. Join us for a journey of creativity and friendship as we carve our way to new adventures!
As there is a waitlist for this group, if you do not attend the first meeting you will be dropped to allow waitlisted club members to join.
One additional note: due to their young age, Cloverbuds will not be using metal tools and carving wood. This is a safety measure as decent carving gouges and knives are near razor sharp. Instead, Cloverbuds will be working with plastic knives and learning to carve soap.
Last, below are a couple of Amazon links for recommended equipment for the remainder of this year. These are basic, beginner-level tools, but they are cost-effective and will be more than sufficient for beginning carvers.
Sign up for art and woodworking, as this project may also include a woodworking project.
